U Magazine Content Editor and Head Writer
Sabrina Brawner is a business owner, speaker, and author, who is passionate about entrepreneurship, writing, and holistic health. She grew up in Athens, GA, and attended college at Georgia State University where she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in creative writing. Inspired by Atlanta’s reputation for opportunity, Sabrina decided that owning a business was what she wanted to do with her life. She became a part-time entrepreneur, and gained invaluable experience in executive administration, management, coaching, leadership, sales, and graphic design, before opening a hair salon franchise business. The business was immediately successful, but Sabrina found her personal life falling apart. Her relationship started failing, and her health began to decline. As the business grew, so did her stress level. She knew she needed to take control, but didn’t know how. She credits her sister, an evangelist, with providing the spiritual counsel that helped her to get centered enough to figure out her next moves. After visiting multiple doctors, Sabrina found that none of their expert opinions or prescriptions had improved her health. Out of frustration, she researched all she could find on modern illness, sources of disease, and how the body worked, in the hopes of curing herself. As a result, she began to pursue a holistic lifestyle change, including cooking and eating clean meals, regular exercise, and meditation. She learned to balance her work life with her personal life, and to take care of herself. This journey helped her to realize that success is not a destination. It is the vehicle in which you discover who you are, your purpose, and how to be happy. Sabrina credits faith for her success, and a strong work ethic instilled in her by her parents.
Along with her English/Creative Writing degree, she holds a life coach certification, and is a co-author and co-editor of the book Learn, Lead, and Leave a Legacy: Advancing Women to the Top. She is active in serving the community through sponsorship and multiple philanthropic efforts including partnering with non-profits to provide Christmas makeovers for homeless women, and prom make-overs to deserving high school girls.
